Shaun says he doesn't want to give up on Lea because she made him discover worldly pleasures that he never would have imagined and makes him feel like a better person. She insists that Shaun should move on from Lea. Vera reveals that she was only at the place (a charity event) hoping to win back her ex-boyfriend. In "Hurt", while Shaun is rescuing a woman named Vera from a collapsing building, the two talk about their personal lives.
Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: In "Heartbreak", after drinking a few drinks at a bar, Shaun has the worst possible idea for how to deal with his rejection by Lea: smashing her car with a baseball bat.She often stood by and did nothing during her husband's fits of rage. Shaun's mother loved him and Steve, but was negligent, cowardly and too loyal to her husband to intervene on behalf of her abused children. Abusive Parents: Shaun's father was an alcoholic who physically and emotionally abused him, even killing his pet rabbit.Whilst some doctors see him as having deficits, others see him as remarkably gifted.
